Born on May 17, 1982, in Virginia, USA, Clarence Goodson joined IK Start ahead of the 2008 season, transferring from FC Dallas in Major League Soccer. With his physicality, strength in duels, and professional attitude, he quickly became a pillar in Start’s central defense. Already in his first season, he played a major role in the team’s promotion back to the Tippeliga, and in the following seasons, he established himself as one of the league’s most reliable center-backs.

Goodson’s performances in yellow and black were also noticed back home. He was selected for the U.S. national team and was part of the squad at the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. After three seasons with Start, he moved on to Danish side Brøndby IF, and later returned to MLS, finishing his career with the San Jose Earthquakes before retiring in 2016.

The energetic right-back stood out with his stamina, determination, and offensive contributions, and played two strong seasons for the club. With over 50 appearances in the Start jersey, he became an important part of the team that re-established itself in the Eliteserien following promotion.

After the 2010 season, Freeman returned to the United States, where he played for clubs like Houston Dynamo and later New York Cosmos. He has since been active in player development and scouting, continuing his football involvement in new ways.
