Annonse:

In the rich history of IK Start, there are a few names that truly stand out. Håkon Tveit is one of them. Born in 1921 and active during the club’s crucial rebuilding period in the 1940s and 1950s, Tveit was a rock on the field and a loyal club man throughout his life.

As a striker, Håkon Tveit was known for his sharp eye for goal and many decisive scores. In the 1949/50 season, he delivered one of his finest performances, scoring 15 of Start’s 25 league goals — including an impressive five goals in a single match against Grane. His achievements attracted attention beyond Southern Norway, and in the same season, he was selected for Norway’s B national team for a match against Northern Norway.

Tveit received IK Start’s token of appreciation as early as 1948, in recognition of his great contribution to the club. In 1955, he was honored with the club’s Gold Badge — the second-highest distinction awarded to members who have made a significant contribution to Start over many years.

Håkon was married to Tordis Tveit, who also demonstrated deep dedication to the club over several decades. Together they had two sons, both of whom followed in their father’s footsteps in Start’s youth ranks: Erik as a winger and Arild as a goalkeeper. In 2013, Tordis was herself awarded IK Start’s Gold Badge in recognition of her many years of service and commitment to the club. Together, Tordis and Håkon remain the only couple to have both received the club’s second-highest honor.

Håkon Tveit passed away on August 26, 1986. His memory remains strong within the club — remembered both as one of Start’s great goal scorers and as someone who, through his loyalty, dedication, and love for the club, left a lasting legacy.

IK Start is proud to have had someone like Håkon Tveit in its ranks — a true representative of the club’s values across generations.
